Mindy Greenstone came off the bench to score 16 points, Nikki Wood had 13 and Karly Stache added 12 to help North Greenville (4-4) snap a four-game losing streak as they defeated The Apprentice School of Virginia 73-63 Saturday afternoon at Hayes Gym.
NGU managed a 29-27 half time lead as they shot a meager 34% from the field. However, Greenstone scored 13 second half points and Wood added nine as the Crusaders pulled away from the Builders late in the game. NGU out-scored The Apprentice School 44-36 in the second half. Coach Jayne Arledge’s team hit four three’s in the final 20 minutes, which was the difference in the game.
The Crusaders limited the Builders to a slim 32% field goal percentage total and out-rebounded them 47-38. Apprentice School senior guard Rahshann Lewter led all scorers with 23 points and Tamara Davis added 13.
North Greenville will next travel to King College in Tennessee Tuesday, Dec. 16. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. They will also play at Carson-Newman Friday, Dec. 19 at 1:00 p.m. before breaking for Christmas. The next home game for the Crusaders is Wednesday, January 7 when they play Georgetown College at 6:00 p.m.
