The NGU women (3-1) got 24 points and six rebounds from Amanda Milner and Nikki Wood added 13, but the Crusaders could not stop Tierney Burdett, who had a game high 26 points, including nine the final four minutes, to lead Limestone (1-1) to a 75-65 win at Hayes Gym.
Limestone led 31-28 at the half, but NGU stormed back to take 40-38 lead with 14:04 left in the game. The Crusaders kept it close and cut the visitors’ lead to five, 61-56 with 4:26 left. Burdett then scored nine points over three minutes at the end, including a big three pointer with 1:18 left that put the game out of reach.
NGU shot a cool 38% in the game and did not hit any three pointers, while Limestone canned eight 3’s. Jacquetta Golden and Christina Carlis also added eight points for the Crusaders.
Next up for Coach Jayne Arledge’s team is a road contest at Lander University in Greenwood on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 6:00 p.m. Their next home contest is Thursday Dec. 3 when they host Tusculum at 5:30 p.m.
