MOE’S MADNESS 2008 CRUSADER KICK-OFF
Basketball teams ready to jump-start the season Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m.
The North Greenville University men’s and women’s basketball teams will give Crusader fans their first glimpse of the 2008-2009 editions Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 10:30 p.m. when they take to the floor of Hayes Gymnasium for a late-night festival highlighting the talent of this season’s squads.  The event will introduce the teams, showcase individual player talent and skills, and give fans the opportunity to compete for prizes.
Moe’s Southwest Grill of Greer has partnered with Crusader Basketball to bring “Moe’s Madness 2008” to North Greenville University’s Hayes Gymnasium. The twilight affair will feature the men’s program participating in a dunk contest, and both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in a three-point challenge. Throughout the course of the event, students and fans alike will compete for prizes and giveaways sponsored by Moe’s and the university.
The resurgent men’s basketball team, which finished the 2007-2008 season at
7-20, features one senior, five returnees, and nine freshmen, three of whom are redshirts, and is looking to improve on the late season success enjoyed by the team.  The squad will begin its season with an exhibition game on November 6, 2008, against Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Georgia. The Crusaders will tipoff their regular season on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. hosting the Saints of Limestone College.
The women’s basketball program, 14-13 a year ago, is also looking to build on last season’s accomplishments in the upcoming 2008-2009 season. The Lady Crusaders were second-place at the NCCAA south regional, and have aspirations of going further this season.  This year’s squad features two senior leaders and seven new faces.  The women’s team opens its season at home on Saturday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m., by hosting the Reinhardt College Eagles.
Moe’s Madness 2008 will commence with fans seeing both the men and women Crusaders in skills competitions and in friendly inner-squad scrimmages.
