TIGERVILLE, SC--North Greenville University athletic director Jan McDonald and women's basketball coach Jayne Arledge released the Crusaders' 2008-09 schedule Tuesday. The Lady Crusaders look to improve upon last season’s 14-13 mark.
This season's schedule includes 13 games in the friendly confines of Hayes Gymnasium and 14 games on the road. Additionally, the Crusaders will play in the NCCAA South Region Tournament February 16-18, 2009.
North Greenville will open the 2008-09 campaign at home against Reinhardt College November 15. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
The Lady Crusaders will play ten times before Christmas, including four home games, and 17 games after returning from winter break in January.
The 2008-09 slate is much different from last season’s. The Lady Crusaders will face eleven opponents that were not on the schedule a year ago. Reinhardt College, Queens University, Lander University, Tusculum College, The Apprentice School, King College, Carson-Newman College, Georgetown College, Southern Wesleyan University, Knoxville College, and the University of West Georgia are all new in 2008-09 although the Crusaders have faced some of these schools in years past.
North Greenville will face eight schools from last season: Converse College, Limestone University, Mars Hill College, Chowan University, Allen University, Morris College, Brevard College, and Lincoln Memorial University.
“We are picking up a lot of different teams this season, which should make it a lot tougher schedule, especially with us bringing in five freshmen,” notes Arledge. “But we are very excited about our team and the potential for success in 2008-09.”
