Crusaders fall at Limestone

GAFFNEY, SC – The Lady Saints basketball team outlasted the Crusaders of North Greenville in Gaffney on Saturday night. The Saints jump to 4-6 overall with the win, while North Greenville slips to 4-7 on the season.

Limestone’s Lindsay Kyle (Springfield, VA) led all scorers with 17 points. Ariel Lyons (Brandon, FL) added a double-double with 11 points and a career high 12 assists. Tiffany Jones (Greer, SC) had 11 points.

Robin Warner (Greenville, SC) had a team high 16 points for the Crusaders, shooting 5-13 from the field. Amanda Milner (Clover, SC) contributed 11 points while also leading the team on the boards with 8.

After five lead changes and two ties, the Saints headed into the locker room up by four at the half. The Saints shot an amazing 5-7 from beyond the arc (71.4%) while North Greenville went 0-2. The Saints converted on 10 Crusader turnovers picking up 15 points on their mistakes. The Crusaders dominated the paint outscoring the Saints 18-4 on the block making 14-30 (46.7%) from the field. The Crusaders owned the boards as well, out-rebounding the Saints 22-18.

In the second half, the two teams traded baskets until Limestone went on a 12-3 run sparked by a Lindsay Kyle 3-pointer at the 8:48 mark. The Crusaders would regain momentum on a made 3-pointer by Warner, cutting the Saints lead to just 3 at 59-56 with just 39 seconds remaining. Lyons and Jones clinched the win at 63-56, both going 2-2 from the free throw line down the stretch. The Saints shot 34.4% (21-61) on the night while the Crusaders were slightly better at 39.3% (22-56). North Greenville won the rebounding battle out-rebounding the Saints 48-37.
