Davis scores 15 in loss at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University placed five players in double figures on its way to an 89-61 win over North Greenville Tuesday night at the Abney Center.

Anderson, 6-1 overall, never trailed and led by as many as 33 points midway through the second half.


The Lady Trojans were led by Whitney Ketner, who came off the bench to score 17 points in 19 minutes. She was followed by Nikki Anthony with 13 points, Mikala Fogle-Wilson and Shanice Wilson with 12 points apiece, and Keana Boyd tallied 11.
Anthony, a native of Pickens and a former player at Florida State, also had a game-high 10 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season.


North Greenville, 4-6 overall, placed three players in double figures -- Eboni Davis 15, Amanda Miller 10, and Nikki Wood 10.


The Crusaders made 11 of 19 shots from the field (58 percent) in the first half but still trailed 49-31 at the break. North Greenville finished the game at 44 percent while Anderson shot 43 percent.

The Lady Trojans dominated the glass, 44-29. Twenty-five of Anderson's rebounds came off the offensive board.


Anderson scored 31 points off 25 North Greenville turnovers, and the Anderson bench outscored the North Greenville bench, 40-20.


Anderson had 22 assists on 28 baskets. Anthony had six assists while Genia Holbrook and Latrice Thomas had four apiece.


Eight Anderson players played at least 19 minutes and no Lady Trojan played more than 27 minutes.


A 25-12 run to open the second half gave Anderson its largest lead -- 76-43 -- with 10:25 remaining.


North Greenville returns to action Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Limestone.
