TIGERVILLE, SC—Lindsay Kyle scored 19 points to lead Limestone College to an 82-76 opening-night overtime victory over North Greenville University Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium. The Saints start the season 1-0, while the Crusaders begin 0-1.
Trailing by five points with just 31 seconds remaining in regulation, Eboni Davis drained a three-pointer to cut Limestone’s lead to two points. After forcing a Saint turnover, Nikki Wood hit a layup at the 00:17 mark to tie the game 71-71 and force overtime.
In overtime, Limestone outscored North Greenville 11-5 to hang on for the victory.
Kyle led all scorers with 19 points. Ariel Lyons and Tierney Burdett added 17 and 14 points respectively to lead the Saints.
Amanda Milner paced the Crusaders with 18 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Robin Warner and Nikki Wood each scored 12 points, while Debbie Wyatt chipped in eleven. Milner and Wyatt each hauled in nine rebounds.
North Greenville shot 62.5% from the field in the first half to hold a 42-34 advantage at the break.
The Crusaders will be back in action Saturday afternoon at 2:00 as Anderson University visits Hayes Gymnasium.
