Lady Crusaders ink three

TIGERVILLE, SCNorth Greenville University announces the signing of three outstanding women’s basketball players. The Lady Crusaders inked Jaleesa Gladden (Chester, SC), Tricia Polito (Tega Cay, SC), and Oceana Jackson (Carnesville, GA) Wednesday, the first day of the late signing period.

Gladden, a freshman at Central Florida Community College, will transfer to North Greenville in Fall 2007. Gladden graduated from Chester High School, where she played for coach Zeke Washington. Gladden was a participant in the 2006 North/South All-Star Game and a three-time All-Region selection. A 5’10” power forward, Gladden averaged 15 points and eight rebounds at Chester, including a career-high 36 points in a game against Clover in 2006.

Polito was a five-year letter winner at Fort Mill High School where she played for coach Scott Barefield. A point guard, Polito helped the Yellow Jackets reach the playoffs five consecutive seasons and led the team to a Region Championship in 2007. Polito was a 2006-07 4A All-State selection as well as a two-time All-Region selection.

Jackson was an early signee for the Crusaders, inking a National Letter of Intent last November. She was named Northeast Georgia Player of the Year for the second consecutive year this spring. Jackson averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds for her Franklin County High School team that lost in the Georgia State Championship game.

“We feel like we have another outstanding class to add to last year’s class and we are very excited about these young ladies and their potential contribution to the Crusader basketball program,” notes head coach Jayne Arledge. “We feel like they are the missing pieces to our puzzle and we look for great things from them in the future.”
