Lady Crusaders fall at Converse

Spartanburg, S.C. Converse College defeated North Greenville University 76-51 on senior night. All four seniors scored double digits including a double-double by Lauren Mueller, 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Carla Kantara, 10 points and 11 rebounds. Brandi Crisitiello scored 11, while Lillian Frazier added 10 point on the night. The All-Stars ended a 7-game winning streak for the visiting Crusaders. With the win, Converse improves to 5-22, while the Crusaders fall to 13-10 on the season.

Converse opened the game on a 23-8 run and never looked back. The Crusaders closed the margin to six in the first half, but could not get any closer. Kathlyn McClain scored 16 of her game high 27 points in the first period to help pace the All-Stars to a 12 point half-time lead.

The All-Stars kept the pace up in the second half, stretching the lead to 17 less than three minutes into the half. A jumper by Audrey Toscano, who scored 11 for the Crusaders, brought North Greenville within 14 points with just over 10 minutes to play. However that would be as close as the visitors would get. From that point, Converse went on an 11-1 to open up a 24 point lead. Amanda Milner also scored 11 and Robin Warner had a team high 14 points for North Greenville.

The All-Stars will host the ‘All-Stars Independent Classic’ the weekend of February 23-25. Converse will take on Claflin on the second day of the Classic at 6:00 pm. They return to the court on Sunday to face off with Columbia Union at 2:00 pm. Brevard College, Chowan College, and North Greenville University will also be participating in the ‘All-Stars Independent Classic’.
