TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville University held off a late run by Presbyterian College to down the Blue Hose 77-65 Friday night in Hayes Gymnasium in NCAA Division II women's basketball action. The win marked the 300th career victory for NGU head coach Jayne Arledge. The Crusaders improve to 5-7 on the season, while PC falls to 4-5.
North Greenville built a 17-point lead with 3:53 remaining in the game, but PC went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes. Kerianne Blease nailed a three-pointer with 2:01 left in the game to cut the lead to six points. The Crusaders responded on their next possession with a layup by Amanda Milner. NGU made six free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 77-65 victory.
North Greenville had five players score in double figures. Audrey Toscano led the Crusaders with 18 points and six rebounds. Debbie Wyatt and Milner each scored 12 points, while Eboni Davis and Samantha Frost added 11 points each.
Amy Jones scored 21 points for the Blue Hose to lead all scorers. Morgan Johnson recorded a double-double in points and rebounds with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Wyatt scored a layup at the 18:15 mark in the first half to give NGU the lead. The Crusaders never trailed again in the game. NGU led 36-29 at halftime.
North Greenville will break for Christmas and return to action January 4, 2007 at Queens University. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. Presbyterian will travel to USC-Upstate Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
