GAFFNEY, SC- The North Greenville University women's basketball team opened the 2006-07 campaign with with a 95-79 road victory at Limestone College in NCAA Division II action Wednesday night.
Junior Audrey Toscano led all scorers with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting, including four of five 3-point attempts. Toscano also brought in 12 rebounds. Three other Crusaders scored in double figures. Sophomore Amanda Milner scored 16 points. Junior Debbie Wyatt recorded a double-double as well with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Eboni Davis chipped in 13 points.
The Saints were led by Blanca Gonzales who finished the game with 23 points. Tiffany Jones and Monica Adams added 10 and 11 points respectively.
North Greenville led by seven at the break 49-42, but Limestone managed to take a one-point lead in the second half. Then the Crusaders ripped off a 17-1 run to down the Saints by the final margin of 95-79.
North Greenville moves to 1-0 on the season, while the Saints fall to 0-1. The Crusaders will be back in action Friday night in Hayes Gymnasium as they play host to Montreat College. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
