TIGERVILLE, SC- The North Greenville women's and men's basketball teams combined for 183 points on Saturday. The Lady Crusaders were responsible for a season-high 89 of those points as they defeated visiting Morris College 89-48 in Hayes Gymnasium.
Amanda Milner (York, SC) led all scorers with 18 points. Amber Rector (Wellford, SC) was not far behind with 17 points, while Audrey Toscano (Concord, NC) chipped in ten points to propel the Crusaders. The Lady Hornets were led by April Drakeford, who score nine points.
North Greenville ran out to a 17-3 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. Morris then went on a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to cut the lead to six. The Crusaders responded with a 17-3 run to go up by twenty points with just 2:40 remaining in the first half, and then closed out the half with a 43-25 advantage.
The second half proved to be more of the same. North Greenville continued to have the hot hand, and maintained a lead of at least twenty points for the entire second half. The lead reached thirty points on a Milner layup at the 9:36 mark. The Crusaders then cruised to the 89-48 victory.
North Greenville shot 54.8% from the field, compared to 32.3% for Morris College. Allison Robinson (Beaufort, SC) and Sarah Giles (Clover , SC) led all players in assists with seven and five respectively.
North Greenville improves to 12-9 on the season, and will be back in action Tuesday night as they play host to King College.
