Milner and Rector post double-doubles in 77-73 loss to Emmanuel
Amanda Milner led NGU with 20 points and 12 rebounds

TIGERVILLE, SC- Two Crusaders posted double-doubles as North Greenville fell to Emmanuel College 77-73 Tuesday night in Hayes Gymnasium. Freshman Amanda Milner (York, SC) scored a career-high 20 points and hauled in 12 rebounds, while senior Amber Rector (Wellford, SC) put up 20 points along with 10 rebounds in the neck-and-neck game. Three Lady Lions scored in double-figures for Emmanuel. Kourtney Singleton, Felecia Towler, and Hannah Daniel brought in 17, 16, and 10 points respectively.

Both teams played tough and appeared to be evenly matched. The two teams were wither tied or within 2 points of each other in several major statistical categories such as points off turnovers, points in the paint, 2nd chance points, and fast break points. The only category with any noticeable difference was bench points, which North Greenville led 36-19.

After playing nearly one half of basketball virtually even, North Greenville closed the first half with a 6-1 run to give them the game's largest lead of five heading into halftime. The Lady Lions caught back up early in the second half and played it even until just under fourteen minutes remaining in the game. Then, Emmanuel went on a 12-2 run over the next four and a half minutes to open up a 59-50 lead.

The Crusaders then coupled some tough defense with a few free throws and layup and got back in the game. North Greenville took the lead 67-66 on two Audrey Toscano (Concord, NC) free throws with 4:47 remaining in the game.

Emmanuel would not relent, however. Jana Pierce hit a three-pointer with 2:19 left in the game to open up a five point lead for the Lady Lions. They would not surrender the lead again, and won the game 77-73.

North Greenville drops to 5-6 on the season, while Emmanuel improves to 12-4. The Crusaders will be back in action Thursday evening in Hayes Gymnasium as they host Allen University. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
