TIGERVILLE, SC- Freshman Amber Bramlett led North Greenville scoring 20 points on 9-13 shooting and hauling in nine rebounds in the Crusaders' 81-62 victory over Queens University Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium. It was a game of runs as North Greenville would take a comfortable lead and then allow the Royals to get back into the game.
North Greenville got up by as many as thirteen points in the first half. Two Debbie Wyatt free throws gave the Crusaders a 31-18 lead with 6:23 remaining in the half. Then the Royals mounted a comeback, going on a 13-4 run to close out the half and cut the lead to 35-31. In the second half, North Greenville jumped out to an early thirteen point lead thanks to a 12-3 run to open second-half play. Queens pulled within nine points several times, but could not get it any closer. North Greenville finished the game building upon their lead. After getting up by as many as 22, the Crusaders won the ballgame 81-62.
Three Crusaders scored in double-figures. Bramlett led all scorers with 20, the first 20-point game for any Crusader this year. Audrey Toscano and Debbie Wyatt dropped in 14 and 12 respectively. Carmelita Jimenez led the Royals in scoring with 14, while Ciera Brown recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
North Greenville improves to 5-2 and will travel to Tusculum College Saturday and try to avenge a 77-72 opening night loss. Queens falls to 0-6.
