TIGERVILLE, SC- After a sluggish start, North Greenville was able to hold on a preserve a 60-55 win over Brevard College Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium. The Crusaders held a lead for the majority of the first half and led 28-23 at halftime. The Tornados took the lead with just over fifteen minutes remaining in the game on a Megan Russell three-pointer. Brevard would get up by as many as six before the Crusaders started crawling back.
Robin Warner hit a three-pointer with eleven minutes remaining to cut the lead to three. Then a free throw and a layup by Erin Yuill tied the game at 40-40 with nine minutes left in the ballgame. After battling back and forth for five minutes, Lindsey Morgan hit a three-pointer to give Brevard a three point lead with four minutes remaining. North Greenville would tie the ballgame several times in the next several minutes, but could not get the lead. Then, Audrey Toscano hit two free throws to put North Greenville up by two. The Crusaders would never trail again en route to a 60-55 victory.
Toscano finished the game with six rebounds and a team-high 11 points. Allison Robinson added nine points and 10 rebounds, while Michelle Dennis dropped in 10 points.
North Greenville improves to 1-1, while Brevard falls to 1-1. The Crusaders will be back in action Saturday at Benedict College. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
