Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville dropped a non-conference game to Mars Hill College on Monday afternoon by a score of 6-3.
Mars Hill got things going in the first inning, scoring three runs on four hits. The Lions picked up two RBI singles in the frame and were helped out by an NGU error. NGU worked around other damage though, stranding two Mars Hill Runners.
North Greenville began to chip away at the deficit in the third inning as Kate Lee would score on a Carson O'Donald ground ball. NGU tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning to even the score at 3-3. Kate Lee did the damage for NGU as her bases loaded double scored Morgan Milan and Megan Johnson.
The Lions answered with a run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh inning to re-gain a three run edge. North Greenville came up empty in the home half of the inning as Carson O'Donald was left stranded following a leadoff single.
The Lions would jump out to a 5-0 lead after a big inning in game two but NGU put a three spot in the third inning to pull to within two before the game was called due to lightning.
Kate Lee led the Crusaders with two RBI while going 1-3 with a run scored. O'Donald finished 1-4 with an RBI while Megan Johnson was 1-3 with a run scored.
North Greenville fell to 9-6 after the loss while Mars Hill improved to 4-5. North Greenville will be back in action on February 27th against Milligan College. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
