Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville picked up two non-conference wins on Saturday afternoon with a pair of 2-1 wins over Coker College.
Carson O'Donald earned the complete game win in game one as she tossed seven innings for the Crusaders. The Cobras managed just one run off of the freshman who struck out two and walked two.
North Greenville broke the scoreless tie in the second inning. Shayna Finley would earn the RBI as Carson O'Donald came across to score on a groundball to short stop. The Crusaders would register four hits in the frame and strand one runner.
NGU would stretch the lead to two in the fourth inning. O'Donald set the table with a leadoff double to right field. Traci Howell would take O'Donald's place on the base path and come around to score two batters later on an error by the second baseman, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 lead.
The Cobras would get on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI double that trimmed NGU's lead to 2-1. O'Donald would retire the Cobras in the sixth inning and work around a bases loaded jam in the seventh to secure the win.
O'Donald helped her own cause in game one as she went 2-3 with a run scored. Six other Crusaders registered a hit in the win including Megan Johnson who was 1-2 with an RBI. Morgan Milan was 1-3 with an RBI as well.
The Crusaders would have seven hits during Saturday's second game, but neither team was able to muster much offense. Avery Callahan would get the win for NGU as she pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits. Callahan added five strikeouts to her stat line.
The Cobras scored the first run of the game in the sixth inning, using a leadoff walk to take their first lead of the day. Courtney Boa would advance to second on a groundball and come around to score two batters later on an RBI single from Ashley Gallm.
NGU would wait until the seventh inning to answer. Morgan Roach's RBI single would score Grace DeBoer, a run that would send the game into extra innings.
The Crusaders came up big in the eighth inning as Carley Baile was gunned down trying to score on a base hit from Ashley Gallm. Callahan would retire the next two batters to send the game into the bottom of the eighth.
North Greenville would load the bases in the home half of the eighth after a free pass and a base hit put Kate Lee and Greer Killman on board. Carson O'Donald would once again step up for the Crusaders as she smashed a double down the right field line to score Shayna Finley.
O'Donald would finish 1-2 with an RBI for NGU. Megan Johnson was 2-3 in game two while Morgan Roach and Kate Lee both delivered a hit. Roach also had one of two RBI for NGU.
North Greenville will take on Mars Hill College on February 23rd starting at 1pm.
