Banner Elk, N.C.—The North Greenville Softball Team picked up a little momentum heading into the post season with a sweep of Lees-McRae, taking wins of 9-8 and 5-4.
The Crusaders trailed 4-0 early In game one but a six run third would give them their first lead of the day. NGU would piece together four hits in the frame while using one Bobcat error to take a 6-4 advantage.
The Crusaders would trail 8-6 later in the game, but once again used a big inning to re-gain the edge. Shayna Finley would plate the first run of the frame with a sacrifice fly while a two run double from Haley Gray would score the equalizer and go ahead runs as the Crusaders broke a two game skid.
The Crusaders would once again have to rebound from a late deficit in game two as the Bobcats led 3-2 in the fifth. An RBI single in the sixth from Taylor Wilson would even the score at three while Grace DeBoer would collect an RBI as well as score a run to give NGU the two run lead and eventual game two win in the seventh inning.
NGU finishes league play with a 9-10 record and 19-18 overall.
