Tigerville, S.C.—The Crusaders took an 8-0 win in game one and a 10-2 win in game two, sweeping the Barton Bulldogs in a Conference Carolinas double header on senior day in Tigerville. The two wins over Barton put the Crusaders over the .500 mark in league play for the first time this season.

GAME ONE (BOX SCORE)

The Bulldogs were shutout in the top half of the first inning, but NGU’s senior Catcher Amy Nagel made sure the Crusaders ended the frame with the lead. The Crusaders tacked on another run in the third to take a 2-0 lead.

North Greenville broke through in the following frame to the tune of four runs. The Crusaders collected those runs on four hits and a Bulldog error. Amy Nagel continued her solid day at the plate, singling in Sarah Armstrong to give North Greenville a 1-0 lead. Armstrong, Santos, and Kimberly Robertson all registered RBI’s in the inning, erasing the Barton two run third, and extending the Crusaders lead to 7-2. Santos also singled in a run in the three run NGU fifth inning. Two more North Greenville runs scored on a Bulldog throwing error, giving the Crusaders a 10-2 win as Barton once again fell victim to the eight run mercy rule as the Bulldogs were turned away in the top of the fifth inning.

Cassi Carpenter got the win for North Greenville in game two after pitching five innings, allowing just two runs on two hits. North Greenville’s seniors shined through on their senior day, combining to score nine of NGU’s 18 runs and accounting for 10 of the Crusaders RBI’s.
