Crusader Softball Adds Four New Faces

Tigerville, SC – After winning the team’s second straight NCCAA South Region Championship and advancing to the NCCAA National Tournament, North Greenville University softball head coach Sarah Hall has announced the signing of four new freshmen to her squad.

All four incoming freshman are from the state of South Carolina and bring talent and depth to a Crusader team that finished 2012 with a 29-14 record, including 18-4 and a Western Division title in their first season as a member of Conference Carolinas.

2012 Recruiting Class

Rebecca Holeman – 5’6” – Pitcher/Infield – Southside Christian School, Greenville, SC – A six-time All-Region selection, Holeman comes to North Greenville after a stellar senior season. As a pitcher, she recorded 140 strikeouts in 113 innings pitched, while compiling a .492 batting average at the plate.

Heather Singleton – 5’2” - Outfield – TL Hanna High School, Anderson, SC – Singleton will be counted on to provide depth for the Crusaders as she is able to play any of the three outfield positions at a high level. She was selected as a member of the All-Region team in 2010 and 2012, while finishing her senior season with a .348 batting average.

Jordan Farmer – 5’2” – Pitcher/Utility – Landrum High School, Landrum, SC – Farmer comes to North Greenville after having a stellar senior season for the Cardinals. The four-time all-state selection finished with a 13-3 record with a 1.21 earned run average and 108 strikeouts. She also is batted .537 with two home runs, two triples, eight doubles and 32 runs scored. She was named Region Player of the year twice in 2010 and 2012, while also being named to the All-Academic in 2011 and 2012.

Megan Steading – 5’4” – Infield/Outfield – Dorman High School, Roebuck, SC – A dual-sport athlete, Steading will be playing both volleyball and softball at North Greenville next season. She was named the team MVP as a junior in 2011 and will provide the Crusaders with needed depth in the infield and outfield.
