Central, SC – Sophomore Rachel Glazebrook (Traveler’s Rest, SC) tossed a no hitter and Rachel Holeman (Mauldin, SC) belted a two run home run in game one and North Greenville (15-5) bounced back from two losses last week to down Southern Wesleyan 4-0 and 10-2 on the road.
Glazebrook ran her record to 8-2 on the year and struck out 13 batters in her first career no hitter at NGU. She drove in the Crusaders’ first run in the first inning, and Shelby Leasure (FR Anderson, SC) went 2-3 with an RBI single.
North Greenville swept the four-game season series from the Warriors. In game two, NGU’s bats exploded with the team’s most hits in a game this season with 14 as the Crusaders pounded SWU 10-2 in a run-rule six inning game.
Marielana Santos went 3-3 with two RBI’s, Kimberly Robertson went 2-3 with an RBI, Courtney Campbell was 2-4 with three RBI’s, including a triple, Leasure went 1-3 with two RBI’s and Sarah Armstrong contributed a 2-3 performance with a triple.
Junior Laura Hopper won her first game on the mound this year for NGU by scattering six Warrior hits. NGU scored six runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth in support of Hopper.
Coach Sarah Hall’s squad will return to Conference Carolinas play Tuesday, March 27 when they travel to Banner Elk, NC to play Lees McRae, which is in second place in the western division. NGU leads the division with a perfect 10-0 mark.
