NGU PUSHES STREAK TO 12 GAMES  DOWNS MT. OLIVE TWICE IN CONFERENCE ACTION

Tigerville, SC – Amy Nagel socked a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning of game one, and North Greenville rallied from a three run deficit with a five run fifth inning to extend its winning streak to 12 games with 4-3 and 7-5 victories over Mt. Olive in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at the Crusader Softball Complex Saturday afternoon.


NGU (13-3/10-0 CC) trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh when Nagel came to the plate with Kimberly Robertson on third base and two outs.  She blasted a pitch deep over the left field fence to secure the win.  Sophomore Rachel Glazebrook (7-1) scattered seven hits in eight innings of work and went 2-4 to lead the Crusaders.  Robertson backed her with an identical 2-4 performance.


In the second game, The Crusaders trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the fifth when the NGU bats got hot once again.  With two outs, Sarah Armstrong singled and Glazebrook ripped a two-run home run.  Karly Taylor had an RBI single and Kansas Wofford won the game with a two run single.  Armstrong and Glazebrook went 2-4 in the game.
Armstrong came on in relief on Cassi Carpenter once again on the mound allowed only three hits in five innings of work.  She ran her record to 3-0.


North Greenville will step away from Conference Carolinas play Tuesday, March 20 when they host Lander University at 3:00 p.m. in Tigerville.
