Greeneville, Tenn. – The Lady Crusader softball team dropped another doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, this time losing to Tusculum College by scores of 4-0 and 3-0.
In game one Taylor Roof picked up the loss after pitching three innings, allowing one run on two hits while recording one strikeout. Kimberly Robertson pitched three innings of relief, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out one. Control issues plagued the Lady Crusaders as the two pitchers combined for eight walks in the game.
Karli Taylor was the lone bright spot on offense in the first game as she finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, her sixth of the season. Robertson and Marielena Santos each finished the game 1-for-3 as well.
In game two, the Lady Crusader defense committed two costly errors and the offense left seven runners on base en route to their fourth straight loss.
Roof (8-12) was on the mound once again but picked up another loss after pitching a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out four, moving her season total to a team-leading 110 strikeouts.
Kelsey Burgess led the offense in the second game, going 1-for-3 from the plate with a double, her third of the season. Roof and Taylor each also finished the game 1-for-3, while Liz Pitts was a perfect 1-for-1 in the game.
The Lady Crusaders (15-22) will play their final two regular season games in a doubleheader against King College in Bristol, Tenn. on Tuesday, April 26 beginning at 2 p.m.
