Tigerville, S.C. – After inclement weather cancelled games earlier this week, the North Greenville softball team returned to the diamond for a doubleheader against Shaw University on Friday afternoon. The Lady Crusaders swept the twin bill, winning both games by a score of 8-0.
In the first game, North Greenville starter Taylor Roof (7-8) had a stellar performance as she held the Lady Bears to just one hit in the game. Roof pitched a complete game, allowing no runs and one hit while striking out five batters.
On offense, the Lady Crusaders scored eight runs on just six hits, as Shaw’s pitching staff allowed eight walks to North Greenville batters. Kansas Wofford led the offense as she finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Wofford hit her fourth home run of the season in the second inning. Sarah Griffith, Karli Taylor and Coutney Campbell finished the game with one RBI apiece.
The Lady Crusaders got another strong pitching performance in game two, this time from starter Laura Hopper. Hopper (2-3) pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on two hits while recording four strikeouts.
Taylor continued her strong day at the plate as she finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Roof finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, one RBI and two runs scored, while Kimberly Robertson was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a run scored.
The Lady Crusaders (12-15) have now won six of their last seven contests and are currently on a four-game win streak. North Greenville’s will be in action again on Thursday, April 7 as they take on Tusculum College in a doubleheader begging at 2 p.m. in Tigerville.
