TIgerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Softball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday afternoon after sweeping a double header from Lincoln Memorial 9-1 and 7-1 at the Pepsi Softball Field.
On the mound for the Crusaders in the first game was Taylor Roof. The junior right hander pitched a complete six inning game allowing just one run on three hits. Roof struck out seven while walking five.
The Crusaders wasted little time taking the lead. After a scoreless top of the first for the Railsplitters, the Crusaders broke the scoreless tie scoring three runs on two hits. The Crusaders would go on to score in the second, fifth, and sixth innings. LMC would go scoreless until the fourth inning in which the Railsplitters would score a lone run.
Offensively Roof helped her own cause by going 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Emily Campbell also had a productive game one going 1-4 with three RBI’s. Left fielder Courtney Campbell was 2-4 from the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
The Crusaders kept swinging their hot bats in game two against Lincoln Memorial. The Crusaders platted seven more runs in game two on nine hits. Kimberly Robertson picked up the win for the Crusaders pitching just two innings. Laura Hopper came in for NGU in the third inning and pitched four innings giving up 1 run while striking out five.
The Lady Crusaders were once again led by Taylor Roof who was 2-3 from the plate with two RBI’s and three runs scored. Courtney Campbell added to her stellar day going 2-3 with a run scored and three RBI’s.
With the sweep, the Crusaders have now won four of their last five games while improving their record to 10-15 on the season. The team’s next game will be on March 28th at home against Limestone.
