Lady Crusaders struggle against Lander

Greenwood, S.C. – The North Greenville softball team continued its offensive woes, dropping a doubleheader to Lander University 2-1 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon.

Taylor Roof (4-7) started game one and pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three batters.

Marielena Santos led the offense going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Sarah Griffith and Courtney Campbell each finished the day 1-for-3 as well.

In game two the Lady Crusaders were only able to record two hits and were shutout in just five innings. Santos once again had a strong game as she finished 1-for-2, while Laura Hopper recorded the only other hit for North Greenville and finished 1-for-3 at the plate.

Hopper (1-3) started the second game on the mound and pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving six runs on five hits while striking out five. Roof pitched the final 1/3 inning, allowing two runs on two hits.

The Lady Crusaders (6-14) will look to turn things around as they travel to Banner Elk, N.C. on Tuesday, March 22 to take on future Conference Carolinas opponent Lees-McRae in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
