LADY CRUSADERS ONE STEP CLOSER TO WORLD SERIES

West Palm Beach, Fla.—The North Greenville Softball team defeated Truett McConnell 3-2 in the first game of the NCCAA South Regional Tournament to move one game closer to the Regional Title and a trip to the NCCAA Softball World Series.

Laura Hopper is credited with the game one win pitching 5.2 innings for the Lady Crusaders giving up two runs on three hits. Taylor Roof was credited with the save pitching 1.1 shutout innings giving up a walk and striking out one batter. Hopper registered seven strike outs in her 5.2 innings of work.
The Crusaders took the lead in the first inning of the low scoring affair scoring one run. North Greenville padded the lead with a two run fourth which helped secure the win. Truett McConnell looked to tie the game in the sixth inning scoring two runs but the late inning rally fell short.
Karli Taylor led North Greenville at the plate going 3-3 with a run scored. Taylor Roof added an RBI and a run scored after going 1-2 with a home run and Jessica Turner was 2-3 with an RBI. Laura Hopper picked up the third RBI for the lady Crusaders.
North Greenville will resume tournament play tomorrow starting at 9:30 am against tournament host and number one seed Palm Beach Atlantic. A win over the Sailfish would put the Crusaders in the Championship game.
