CRUSADERS DEFEAT SOUTHERN WESLEYAN IN ROUTE TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Softball team wrapped up the 2010 regular season today completing a three game sweep of Southern Wesleyan beating the Warriors 4-1.

Starting on the mound for North Greenville was sophomore Taylor Roof. Roof pitched three shutout innings giving up two hits. Kimberly Robertson pitched 1.1 innings giving up one run on three hits and Kristyn Smith pitched 2.2 shutout innings giving up no hits and striking out five batters.
After scoring four runs in the first two innings, the Crusaders were unable to muster anymore offensive support but the four were enough to secure the win. The Warriors efforts to muster a comeback in the fifth inning fell short when they were only able to score one run.
Offensively, North Greenville was led by Jessica Turner who was 1-2 with an RBI.  Sarah Griffith (1-2), Kansas Wofford (1-1 RBI), Krysta Laird (1-1), and Shealy Broome all scored runs for the Lady Crusaders. Allison Bailey (2-3) and Hope Brewer (1-2) also contributed to the winning effort.
The Lady Crusaders next game will be in West Palm Beach Florida for the NCCAA regional tournament. The tournament boasts a three team field including West Palm Beach, Truett McConnell, and North Greenville. Times for the games will be posted when information is available.
