Game Two Box
Cleveland, Ga.—The North Greenville softball team (22-19) completed the regular season sweep of Truett McConnell Saturday sweeping a double header winning the first game 5-1 and the second game 11-2.
In game one Truett McConnell grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Crusaders would tie the game at one in the third inning before taking the lead 4-1 in the fourth inning platting three runs on six hits.
The Lady Crusaders added one more run in the seventh inning to secure the game one victory. Head coach Sarah Hall got a strong performance from her starting pitcher Laura Hopper. Hopper pitched a complete seven innings, giving up one run on four hits with 9 strikeouts.
North Greenville showed no signs of letting up in game two. The Crusaders scored early and often platting runs in the first (4), third (3), fourth (2), and Fifth (2) innings forcing the game to be called in five innings due to the mercy rule.
NGU’s strong offensive showing in game two was led by Rachel Holeman who was 3-4 with three runs scored and four RBI’s. Allison Bailey also added support going 2-3 with a run scored and Tia LaFreniere was 2-3 with three RBI’s.
Kimberly Robertson got the start on the mound for North Greenville in game two. Robertson pitched 1.2 innings giving up one run. Laura Hopper came on in relief for NGU going 3.1 innings giving up one run on two hits.
The Lady Crusaders will return home for a Tuesday double header this Tuesday April 20th against Southern Wesleyan.
