Demorest, Ga.—The North Greenville Softball team (18-19) continued a tough string of games today dropping both ends of a double header to Piedmont College 1-0 in game one and 2-1 in game two.
The Lady Crusaders had trouble scoring runs in game one. NGU went scoreless despite having six hits in the seven inning contest. Piedmont had trouble scoring as well in game one. Starter Taylor Roof held the Lions scoreless until the sixth inning. Roof struck out seven batters and allowed three walks.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning when Piedmont scored the winning run on a walk-off single scoring a runner from third base. Taylor Roof was the only NGU player with multiple hits in game one going 2-3.
The Crusaders would suffer the same fate in game two. North Greenville avoided the shutout however scoring one run on seven hits. Lauren Rickus who was 2-3 in the game was credited with the RBI and Rachel Holeman scored the run for NGU.
Game two was tied at one until the bottom of the seventh when the Lions scored the winning run on a second walk-off single.
The Lady Crusaders will play again April 15th at home with a double header against Brevard College. The first pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
