Game Two Box
Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Softball team (20-15) celebrated senior day today at the North Greenville Softball Complex by sweeping the Truett McConnell Bears 1-0 and 6-1 in the Saturday twin bill.
Game one was a battle of pitching. Kristyn Smith started on the mound for NGU pitching 3 innings giving up one hit and striking out six batters. Taylor Roof came on in relief in the fourth inning to finish the game. Roof struck out six batters and allowed no hits.
The Lone run for NGU came in the third inning on a bases loaded walk. Sarah Griffith was credited with the RBI. Tia LaFreniere led the Crusaders offensively going 1-2 and scored the only run for NGU. Jessica Turner and Shealy Broom also went 1-2 at the plate.
The Lady Crusaders flipped the proverbial switch in game two. NGU scored six runs on eight hits. Senior Jessica Turner led the team going 2-2 with a two run homer and two runs score. Seniors Hope Brewer (1-4 with a run scored), Shealy Broome (2-3 with a run scored), and Tia LaFreniere (1-3 with an RBI) all had solid performance at the plate in game two. Senior Kasey Templeton scored a run and senior Krysta Laird accounted for an RBI.
The Crusaders next game will be April 12th at home against Emmanuel College. The double header with the Lions will start at 1pm.
