Tigerville, S.C.— North Greenville University first year softball coach Sarah Hall announced the names of her first ever signees for the class of 2010-2011.
Brittany Dunn (Traveler’s Rest), Kirsten Brown (Greenville, SC), and Kelsey Burgess (Charlotte, NC) are presently high school seniors and will enroll at NGU in the fall of 2010. Dunn is a senior at Travelers Rest High School, and played varsity softball at TR for five years. The 2010 season will be a remarkable sixth year on the varsity squad. A multi-talented player, she has appeared at pitcher, shortstop, and catcher. She pitched a perfect game in 2006 and a no hitter in 2007. She was named to the Class AAA All-Region team in 2006 and 2009.
Brown is a senior at Woodmont High School, and is an incredible seven year starter. She has played both catcher and shortstop.
Her high school accolades include being named her team’s offensive player of the year in 2006 and 2008, as well as the defensive player of the year in 2007. Brown was named to the Western Conference Class AAA All-Region team in 2009.
Burgess is a senior at Gaston Christian School in Charlotte. She will start at shortstop this spring. Hall projects her as a primary contributor at shortstop upon the graduation of incumbent SS senior Hope Brewer. She is expected to have a major impact on the defense for the Crusaders next season as one fo Hall’s first signees.
“I’m very excited that Brittany, Kirsten, and Kelsey have decided to come play for us here at NGU,” remarked head coach Sarah, “I feel good moving forward. Brittany, Kristen, and Kelsey will be the foundation for a great recruiting class and a successful future. The girls we signed last year have greatly contributed this season and we hope that these girls and other signees will have the same impact when the put on a North Greenville Uniform.”
