NGU SOFTBALL SWEEPS COLUMBIA COLLEGE

Game Two Box Columbia, S.C.—After several days off the NGU Softball Team returned to action against Columbia College winning the first game 9-1 and the second game 15-0, both in five innings.

The first game was called in five innings due to the “mercy rule”. Kristyn Smith started on the mound for the Lady Crusaders pitching all five innings giving up 1 run on two hits. Smith registered 11 strikeouts and issued one walk.
Several players contributed offensively in the first game led by senior Hope Brewer who was 2-4 with a run scored and two RBI’s. Kansas Wofford was 2-3 with a run and a double, and Taylor Roof was 1-3 with a run scored. North Greenville applied the pressure to Columbia early scoring eight runs in the third inning. NGU forced the “mercy rule in the fifth by scoring the ninth run.
The Crusaders continued the hot hitting in the second game beating the Fighting Koala’s 15-0 in another five inning game. North Greenville scored runs in the first (1), second (2), third (5), and completed the series sweep with an eight run fifth.
North Greenville will take the field again on March 27th with a double header on the road at Carson Newman College.
