Game Two Box Tigerville, S.C.—The Crusaders dropped the first game of a double head Friday afternoon in extra innings losing 4-2 to Milligan College but exacted revenge on the Buffaloes in the second game beating Milligan 7-4.

Kristyn Smith started on the mound for NGU in the first game pitching five innings. She gave up two runs on four hits while walking four batters and striking out six.  Smith was relieved in the sixth inning by freshman Kimberly Robertson. Robertson pitched four innings including two extra innings giving up two runs on 1 hit (two run homer in ninth inning).
The Crusader offense fell stagnant in the first game. The Crusaders scored two runs in the fourth inning but failed to produce after including failing to score with bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with two outs.
The Crusaders were a swing away from winning the game bottom of the eighth. With a runner on second base Allison Bailey smashed a drive down the left field line that traveled only inches left of the foul pole. Offensive leaders in game one were Hope Brewer who was 2-5 with a run scored, and Karli Taylor who was 2-4. Taylor Roof was 1-4 with an RBI and Tia LaFreniere was 1-3 with an RBI.
The Crusaders wasted little time scoring in the second game. Lead-off batter Kansas Wofford sparked an early game rally after leading off with a single. Wofford would advance to second on a wild pitch and would later score on a Hope Brewer single. North Greenville went on to score four runs in the inning with RBI’s from Taylor Roof (2) and Rachel Holman (1).
The Crusaders would tack on three more runs in the fourth inning with two runs coming on a Karli Taylor homerun to center field. Offensive leaders in the second game were Kansas Wofford who was 3-4 with a run scored, Hope Brewer who was 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI’s, and Karli Taylor who was 2-2 with a 2-run homerun and two RBI’s.
On the mound for NGU in the second game was sophomore Taylor Roof (5-0). Roof pitched a complete seven inning game giving up four runs on six hits. She issued seven walks and struck out seven batters. Roof also provided herself some run support going 1-3 from the plate with two RBI’s and a run scored.
The Crusaders will have less than 24 hours to rest before their next double header tomorrow at Wingate University. The first game between the Crusaders and Bulldogs is scheduled to begin at 1pm immediately followed by the second game which is scheduled for a 3pm start.
