NGU SOFTBALL COMPLETES '09 IN NCCAA NATIONAL TOP 10

The North Greenville softball team, which came up one run shy of a trip to the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) national championship tournament, was ranked 9th in the final NCCAA national poll it was announced Tuesday.


Coach Jan McDonald’s Crusaders, who stand at 18-18 on the year, will complete their season Wednesday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m. with a doubleheader against Spartanburg Methodist in Tigerville.
NGU seniors Lindsey Eargle, Bridget Watson and Ashley Warlick were honored in senior day ceremonies last weekend, but their final official appearance in the red and black of North Greenville will be Wednesday.
North Greenville trailed #1 ranked Bethel College (IN) which had a 43-3 record, and South Regional opponent Chowan (NC), which was ranked 6th in the NCCAA national rankings.  Chowan nudged the Crusaders out of the NCCAA playoffs with a 1-0 win in the South Regional title game last Saturday.
