Franklin Springs, GA- The North Greenville Softball team took the field today at 10 am in Franklin Springs Georgia in search of a regional title. The Crusaders faced off against Emmanuel College which is hosting the tournament as well.
EC would put the first run on the board in the 1st inning. North Greenville would answer the run in the 2nd inning after Emmanule pitching issued 2 walks to NGU batters. Allison Bailey advanced to 3rd on a Jessica Turner ground ball. On the next pitch Turner attempted to steal 2nd base and reached when the Emmanuel 2nd baseman droped the ball on the tag. Allison Bailey would score on the dropped attempted tag. The game would remain 1 to 1 until the bottom of the fith inning when EC started a two out rally with a double. The next batter would power a 2 run homerun of the left field fense to give the Lions a 3 to 1 lead. EC would post one more run in the top of the 6th inning. NGU will play the loser of the Emmanuel College vs. Chowan game taking place at 12:00 pm. NGU must win their second game in order to compete for the championship.
