Crusaders' Strong Defense Falls Short

Crusader women’s softball concluded their weekend play today with two losses in a double header against Milligan College. The team’s defense was on point, only allowing five runs combined. They improved from the first to the second game with final scores of 4-1 to 1-0, respectively.

“There was an outstanding effort from our defense today,” said Coach Jan McDonald. “Taylor Roof pitched an excellent second game only giving up one run.”

However, the Crusaders had a difficult time hitting today with 10 strikeouts in the first game and 15 in the second.  “We need to get our focus back on our hitting,” said McDonald. “We had good defense in both games, but did not hit the ball very well.” McDonald feels that once the team figures out how to score a few runs they’ll be in much better shape.

The women will play their next two games at Newberry College on Thursday Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
