Softball shuts out Chowan twice
Ashley Warlick pitched a complete game shutout in Game One

TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville University shut out Chowan University in two games Tuesday afternoon. The Crusaders won the first game 6-0, while taking game two 8-0 in five innings.


Ashley Warlick struck out two and gave up only three hits in seven innings of work to pick up the win. Shellie Wimpey gave up nine hits in the loss.

Brandy Jackson and Shealy Broome each had two hits for the Crusaders, while all six RBI were spread evenly between Amanda McElveen, Lindsey Eargle, Laura McMahan, Allison Bailey, Shannon Rainey, and Bridget Watson.

Terquita Funderburk led the Hawks with two hits.

North Greenville scored one run in the first inning, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth.


Audrey Christmas pitched five innings, striking out four and giving up only two hits in the win. Sara Teh took the loss for Chowan.

Amanda McElveen drove in three runs and scored once to lead the Crusaders. Jackson and Bailey each had two RBI for NGU, while Bridget Watson batted 2 for 2 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Nicole Young and Katie Conlon had Chowan's only two hits.

North Greenville scored four runs in each of the second and fourth innings.

The Crusaders will be back in action Thursday at Milligan College.
