TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville split a doubleheader with Mars Hill Saturday. Mars Hill won hte first game 13-10. The Crusaders took the second game 3-2.
The Lions scored five runs in the first inning and one in the second to open up a 6-0 lead. North Greenville came back in the bottom of the second inning to score four runs. Laura McMahan hit a home run for the Crusaders in the fourth inning to cut the score to 6-5.
Both teams received one run each in the fifth inning. North Greenville's came on a solo home run by Holly Lester. The Lions and the Crusaders each posted three runs in the sixth inning, with Mars Hill scoring the same number in the seventh.
North Greenville rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the seventh when Lua Greene singled in Emily Queen.
Katie Bryden was credited for the win for the Lions, while Amy Krainas took the loss for North Greenville.
North Greenville opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Lindsey Earle crossed the plate on a Casey Smith ground ball. Mars Hill tied the game in the second inning on an Ashley Harber home run.
North Greenville took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning when Eargle scored again, this time on a passed ball.
The Lions tied the game in the fourth inning. Harbor doubled to begin the inning, and then reached third on a ground ball. Harbor then scored on an infield error by the Crusaders.
North Greenville scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning. McMahan hit her second home run of the day to give North Greenville the win.
