Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville Trailblazers played their first home match of their 2026 schedule on Wednesday evening at Pepsi Stadium, falling to Mars Hill 3-1. The loss dropped North Greenville to 0-2 on the season, while Mars Hill improved to 2-0-1.
North Greenville struck first midway through the opening half. After Kai Goodman put back-to-back shots on goal, Brennen Lamont found the net in the 24th minute to give the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead. The goal was Lamont's first of the season.
Mars Hill responded with two goals in a span of just over two minutes late in the half. Jay Sangha tied the match at the 35:05 mark off an assist from Abiel Lopez-Dominguez before Cameron Bennetti scored at 37:27, with Sangha providing the assist to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.
The Lions extended their lead in the 63rd minute when Luke Kelly scored off an assist from Kai Stolp to make it 3-1. North Greenville continued to generate chances, with Lamont putting another shot on goal less than a minute later and Jesse Zborovsky forcing a save in the 69th minute, but the Trailblazers were unable to cut into the deficit.
North Greenville finished with seven shots and placed five on goal. Goodman led the Trailblazers with three shots, including two on target, while Lamont finished with two shots, both on goal, and scored NGU's lone goal. Jesse Zborovsky also placed his only shot on frame. Mars Hill finished with 14 shots, including five on goal, and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Cohen Brinkley played all 90 minutes in goal for North Greenville and recorded two saves. Mars Hill goalkeeper Logan Cassel finished with four saves while allowing one goal.
The Trailblazers will return to action on Saturday, September 5th against the Lander Bearcats in Greenwood, South Carolina.
