North Greenville Completes Sweep Against Mount Olive

Tigerville, SC - The 2nd ranked North Greenville Trailblazers completed a conference series sweep with a doubleheader win against the Mount Olive Trojans, starting the day off with a 3-2 victory and ending the day with a 7-1 win. With the series win, NGU improved to a 19-2 overall record with a 10-2 record in conference play. A low-scoring game one featured solid performances by both starting pitchers. Mount Olive was able to get a run on the board in the top of the 4th and added another run in the 5th. After five scoreless innings, NGU was finally able to score a run of their own in the 6th by way of a wild pitch. Down to North Greenville's final out, Josh Foulks would come through in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI single to bring in the tying run. A sacrifice fly in the 8th by Cooper Noble would end the game with an NGU victory. Thomas Skipper, who pitched the top of the 8th, was the winning pitcher. North Greenville would get on the board early on as an RBI single by Lane McGaha put a run on the board in the 1st inning. After a scoreless 2nd inning, Thomas Powell would add to the lead with a solo shot to right field. Kai Tullos would hit an RBI single later in the inning. Mount Olive would get their run in the 5th inning before NGU would add a run in the 6th, two runs in the 7th including another home run by Powell, and one last run in the 8th. Connor Brinson took the win.

Thomas Powell put together a day to remember with 4 hits including 2 home runs and a double. Kai Tullos finished his day with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and a sacrifice fly. Bennett Roemer pitched 5.0 solid innings and allowed just 2 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks while striking out 6 batters.

NGU will return to action on Tuesday, March 10th against the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
