Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers improved their record to 8-0 for the season with a 15-6 victory over the Wolves of Newberry College at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU put together a solid day at the plate, totaling thirteen hits and ten walks. North Greenville was able to get on the board in the 1st inning with a sacrifice fly by
Lane McGaha.A solo home run by the Wolves tied the game at 1-1 in the 3rd inning. The Trailblazers put together a big 4th inning, reclaiming the lead with six runs including a three-run home run by McGaha and a solo home run by
Kai Tullos. Newberry was able to chip away at the deficit, scoring a run in the 5th and four more runs in the 6th. However, the Trailblazers would pull away for good in the 7th with an eight run inning including a two-RBI double by
Kai Tullos and two-RBI singles by
Thomas Powell and
Jan Pospisil. A scoreless 8th and top of the 9th inning secured the win for the Trailblazers to remain perfect for the season.
Ben Leikam, who pitched the 4th and 5th innings, received the win.
Lane McGaha had a solid day, going 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run, 4 RBIs, and a walk.
Kai Tullos posted 2 hits including a home run and a double as well as three RBIs and 2 runs scored.
CJ Dean recorded 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
North Greenville will return to action on Friday, February 13th to take on the King Tornado at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
