Coleman Fulkerson recorded three saves to lead the North Greenville Trailblazers to a 0-0 draw against Barton College this afternoon in Wilson, North Carolina.
The result moved North Greenville to 3-7-3 overall and 3-3-3 in Conference Carolinas play, while Barton moved to 4-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the conference.
Barton applied pressure immediately, forcing Fulkerson into his first save just 48 seconds into the match on an attempt from Akos Tajtyi. North Greenville responded with its first opportunity in the fifth minute when Tyler Koppe sent a shot wide of the goal. Alec Myers added another attempt in the 14th minute, but scoring opportunities remained limited for both teams throughout the opening half. The Bulldogs generated four first-half shots compared to two for the Trailblazers, but Fulkerson and the North Greenville defense kept Barton off the scoreboard. NGU entered halftime tied at zero despite being unable to put a shot on target during the opening 45 minutes.
Both offenses became more active after halftime, with Barton producing eight shots and North Greenville recording five. Neither team was able to find the breakthrough, however, and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Koppe, Myers and Nedas Vaivada led North Greenville with two shots each. Koppe and Vaivada each recorded one shot on goal, while Kai Goodman contributed the Trailblazers' remaining attempt. Fulkerson played all 90 minutes in goal, finishing with three saves and securing the shutout. Barton finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also recorded both corner kicks in the match.
NGU will return to action on Wednesday, October 14th against the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College at Pepsi Stadium.
