Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers improved to 2-4 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play by defeating the Tornado of King University with a final score of 2-1 at Pepsi Stadium. NGU took a 2-0 lead in the first half and were able to hold onto the lead after a second half goal by the Tornado.
Finley Lloyd found the back of the net in the 7th minute of the match with a penalty kick goal. Around 20 minutes later,
Valerie Hernandez put NGU up 2-0 with an assist by
Kylie Mcilravy. North Greenville led in shots 10-6 in the first half and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. King would score just over 10 minutes into the second half to cut the NGU lead down to one. However, the Trailblazer defense would keep the Tornado from scoring the equalizer as time would run out to give North Greenville its second win of the season.
Finley Lloys scored a goal and recorded 2 shots, both on goal and played a full 90 minutes.
Valerie Hernandez posted a goal and 3 total shots with 2 on goal.
Holly Lanter led both teams in total shots with 6, 3 of them on goal.
North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, September 27th to face the Mount Olive Trojans in Mount Olive, North Carolina.
