Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers began a weekend conference series with an 8-1 victory over the Braves of UNC Pembroke on a chilly day at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU jumped ahead early on, beginning with a solo home run down the left field line by
Thomas Powell in the 2nd inning. The 3rd inning would be a successful one as well for North Greenville as an RBI single by
Gideon Antle was followed by a three-run home run by
Josh Foulks. Bryce Rodey would add to the lead with an RBI double in the 4th. UNC Pembroke was able to get on the board in the 5th by way of a double, but NGU would respond with a run in the 6th as well as a run in the 7th.
Oliver Adams finished things off with a scoreless 9th inning to secure the win.
Brody Fowler was the winning pitcher while
Kadan Roach pitched 2.0 scoreless innings.
Bryce Rodder posted three hits including a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Brett Blomquist recorded two hits, a run, an RBI, and a walk.
Josh Foulks hit a home run and finished with three RBIs and a run scored.
The two teams will face each other in a doubleheader beginning at noon tomorrow at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
