NGU entered the win column this afternoon against the Southern Wesleyan Warriors with a 6-2 victory in Central, South Carolina. North Greenville put up a total of forty shots while holding the Warriors to just ten for the match. Goalkeeper
Haleigh Holland recorded her first win as a Crusader.
The Crusaders grabbed an early lead with a goal by
Isabella Gyurich less than three minutes into the match, which was assisted by
Macy Metcalf and
Kylie Mcilravy. Gyurich would score again three minutes later with an assist by
Marli Cevallos. A penalty kick goal by
Elainee Sprinkle added to the lead to make the score 3-0 just seventeen minutes in.
Miranda Moorhouse would add to the lead with an unassisted goal. Southern Wesleyan would get on the board with the final goal of the first half. The Warriors also scored the first goal of the second half to cut the deficit to two. However, NGU would increase the lead back to four with the final two goals of the match, a goal by
Marli Cevallos with an assist by
Jada Patrick and an unassisted goal by Patrick.
Isabella Gyurich led by NGU with 2 goals and a total of 9 shots.
Marli Cevallos also posted 9 shots and scored a goal as well as provided an assist.
Jada Patrick finished her afternoon with 4 shots, a goal, and an assist.
NGU returns to action on Wednesday, September 20th against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University at Pepsi Stadium.
