North Greenville to Play for Championship Tonight in Mount Olive

For the first time in program history, the North Greenville Crusaders will play for a conference championship tonight in Mount Olive, North Carolina. After yesterday afternoon's 3-0 victory in the semifinals against the Emmanuel Lions, the Crusaders will face the Mount Olive Trojans, who were victorious against the King Tornado with a final score of 3-1.

NGU made quick work of things yesterday afternoon, sweeping the Emmanuel Lions 3-0. North Greenville put up a respectable .275 attack percentage throughout the match while the Lions struggled throughout the night, posting a negative attack percentage in all three sets and ending the match with a -.070 percentage for the match. Gregory Torres led both teams with twelve kills.

Mount Olive took the first two sets before the Tornado fought back to take set three. The Trojans then took back over to comfortably win the fourth and final set. UMO recorded a .409 attack percentage for the match. Blocks were the biggest factor of the match as the Trojans dominated with eleven blocks while the Tornado failed to record any.

The two programs faced each other twice during the regular season, with both resulting in five set thrillers with NGU ultimately winning both matchups. Gregory Torres led NGU in kills with twenty while Michael de la Cruz led the second matchup with twenty-one kills. Service aces could be a major factor as the category was led by North Greenville in both matches, leading in the first match 7-5 and dominating the second match 7-0.

The championship match will take place tonight with a scheduled start time of 6:30 PM.
