Results
  • Score: NGU 1 / L-R 1
  • Location: Bears Field / Hickory, NC
  • Records: NGU 0-1-2 / L-R 1-0-1
Recap
  • After Lenoir-Rhyne recorded the first shot of the match, Megan Biehl posted NGU's first shot soon after, which was saved. However, nearly thirty minutes would go by without a shot by North Greenville until Faith Knoedler put an end to the dry spell. The Bears dominated the half in total shots, but the two teams would remain in a scoreless tie at halftime.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne would come out of halftime as the aggressors, putting up the first three shots. Megan Biehl would once again be the first to get a shot off for the Crusaders. In the 54th minute, the Bears were able to get on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 lead. North Greenville was able to respond nearly eighteen minutes later when Megan Biehl found the back of the net with an assist by Kayla Cruse. Immediately afterwards, a lightning delay would stop the game for nearly an hour. When play resumed, the two teams put up several shots but regulation would eventually expire with the score still tied.
  • A foul very early in the first overtime period would result in a free kick just outside the box. Kayla Cruse would take the free kick and what looked to be a game-winning shot was kept out of the goal with a diving save by Grayson Cameron. Lenoir-Rhyne would get several shots off of corner kicks but also came up empty. Time would run out to force a second overtime period.
  • Shots were limited in the second overtime period as both teams were visibly exhausted after a long match. Immediately after a corner kick by Lenoir-Rhyne, the lights would go out at Bears Field causing yet another short delay. After an opportunity by the Bears, the Crusader defense held up, preserving the draw.
