Tigerville – North Greenville football has released its 2021 season schedule which includes four games vs. in-state foes and a full Gulf South Conference slate.
The Crusaders much anticipated return will be a Saturday (September 4, 2021) bout versus Limestone College. The Crusaders and Saints have met three times in the past, but not since the 2017 season, a 27-20 win for North Greenville.
The home and season opener will be the only home game for North Greenville in the month of September as the team hits the road for three consecutive weeks. Opponents on the three-week stretch include Newberry on September 11
th, and The Citadel on September 18
th. The Crusaders and Wolves last met in 2019 while hosting The Citadel in 2016.
North Greenville will head to Due West, South Carolina on September 25
th to play Erskine College. It will be the first official game between the two programs after Erskine reinstated its football program in 2018 after a 70-year hiatus. North Greenville conducted a scrimmage with the fleet on March 20
th.
North Greenville switches its attention to the Gulf South schedule on October 2
nd when the Crusaders host Mississippi College. It will be Mississippi College's first trip to Tigerville after weather forced the Choctaws to cancel their 2018 trek to South Carolina. The Crusaders welcome West Florida to Younts Stadium the following week on October 9
th. The Argos are currently the defending Division II National Champions.
Its back to the road for weeks seven and eight with trips to Delta State in Cleveland, Mississippi and down to Carrolton to take on West Georgia the following week. NGU's remaining road game will be in week 10 against Valdosta State. West Georgia is scheduled for October 23 while Valdosta State is a November 6
th match-up.
The Crusaders will have a home game between their trips to Georgia when West Alabama heads to Tigerville on October 30
th for what has historically been a closely contested match-up decided by less than 2.5-points. The regular season finale will be Shorter College on November 14
th in Tigerville.
