Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders were victorious against the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive with a final score of 3-1 this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium. Mount Olive, who was previously undefeated in conference matches, came back to win set two after dropping the opening set. However, the Crusaders would take care of business in sets three and four to take the win. Jackson Gilbert hit a season-high 20 kills.

Recap

• NGU would get off to a good start in the opening set, opening up a 6-3 lead. The Crusaders would continue to hold a fairly comfortable lead through the set, and a 7-2 run would seemingly put the set out of reach. However, Mount Olive would come back with a 7-1 run to pull within a point. Jackson Gilbert would take over from there, posting two kills and two blocks to lead the Crusaders to a 25-21 set win.
• Set 2 would see Mount Olive get an early lead. The Crusaders would play the Trojans tough in the set as UMO would never lead by more than four. However, North Greenville eventually ran out of time in the set as they were unable to even up the score. Mount Olive would go on to take the second set 25-21.
• The Trojans would dominate the beginning of the 3rd set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead. After Mount Olive led by seven, the Crusaders would slowly but surely get back into the mix, and a 10-3 run by NGU would even things up with a score of 15-15. The two teams would remain neck and neck for the remainder of the set. Extra points would be needed, but kills by Brandon Baker and Tom Curry would give North Greenville a set three win with a score of 29-27.
• Set 4 would be a highly competitive one as both teams would remain within striking distance of the other. Mount Olive would start off with the slight edge, but that edge would switch to North Greenville's side as the set went on. Extra points would once again be required, but the Crusaders would put two points together including a service ace by Sergio Carrillo to get NGU the set with a score of 27-25.

Individual

• Jackson Gilbert led the way with a season-high 20 kills. He also posted 5 digs, 3 service aces, and 3 total blocks.
• Brandon Baker also had a good day, recording 12 kills, 3 block assists, a service ace, and a dig.
• Sergio Carrillo provided 48 assists, 9 digs, 3 block assists, and 2 service aces.
